Abhishek Kaushik | Co-Founder at WeCP (We Create Problems)

In our quest to identify and share with our community some of the unique startup stories, we interviewed yet another promising young entrepreneur, Abhishek Kaushik – Co-founder at WeCP (We Create Problems).(We Create Problems) is a product company that provides SaaS (Software-as-a-service) solutions to IT, Tech, Staffing and Recruitment companies. Let’s read more about his journey, way forward and his advice for others!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Abhishek:

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your startup please;

I’m a technology and nature enthusiasts. Would love to have an office in the Jim Corbett. I like to think through first-principles and more fundamentally love to think about the existential structure of anything – history, geography, culture, economics and “the matter”. I started WeCP (We Create Problems) –> https://wecreateproblems.com in my final year of NIT Trichy with my friend Mohit.

We started as a tech-driven question/puzzle creation company; that’s why the name. And, we used to sell questions to companies who conduct online interviews, hiring tests etc. A few months later we developed our own online SaaS platform where companies can provide a real-environment to candidates to demonstrate their skills and instantly make the appropriate decisions of hiring and upskilling.

How do you find the industry/niche that you’re in?

The HR tech industry is quite big and it is popularly believed that there is enough for everyone to eat and grow. We’re in the sub-segment of HR tech which is “Talent Assessment”. I personally believe that every sector of the new age economy will formalize, every formal sector hence would need people’s real skills to thrive and therefore to find real-skills in people faster, skill and productivity assessment tools would play a crucial role.

What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e. what’s your source of motivation?

I’m generally a morning person since my childhood. Motivation is to not miss bird chirping, fresh air and shiny greenery around.

What challenges/obstacles did you face in your journey so far?

We had to struggle at times with consistent cash flow. Building and executing a Recurring Revenue model was tricky and hard, especially in the Indian market. We made it work with the support of our customers and now we’re doing better in that aspect.

WeCP (We Create Problems)

What comes first for you – money or emotions?

I am an emotional person. Business needs to have emotions, not personal, obviously, but business ones like concern for quality deliverables, client satisfaction, targets & roadmaps, you planned & how you will achieve it, etc. Money is obviously the priority but I believe if your value creation process is right for others, the money will automatically come as an outcome of it.

How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?

I’ve gradually improved myself in pressure and stress handling. I read books, go out and mostly prefer to listen to spiritual healing music which repairs your dead cells and boost your energy towards positivity.

What is one strategy that you believe has helped you grow as a person/startup?

As a person: Reading books & travelling through nature | As startup: Building team and transparency in the company. Making every individual in the company outcome-oriented instead of task-oriented.

In your opinion what are the keys to success?

In my opinion, the key to success is – “Self-examination”. In today’s world, things are highly data-driven. With growing information all around, clarity is your power. We’re over-changing ourselves based on what data says. The day you develop a mindset to be consistent in self-examination and clear thinking you’ll start seeing success.

What advice would you give to someone starting out?
1) Self-examine yourself a lot, 2) Develop pragmatism 3) If you’ve any kind of survivorship bias and confirmation bias, remove that 4) Learn from the experience of senior/old people; relate your situation with their fundamentals.
