This week we spoke to yet another passionate entrepreneur Abhishek Gupta to understand more about his startup, his vision and his entrepreneurial journey so far. He is the Managing Director of Altos Enterprises Ltd. Let’s read more!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Abhishek:
When did you join Altos Enterprises and talk to us about your early experience?
I joined Altos Enterprises in 2012, after completing my Master in Business Management from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom.
Altos was started by my father, Dr Ashwani Gupta, in the year 2000, with a vision of Healthy India. For me, Altos is like my family. My early experience was shaped by intense learning under the guidance of my father. I was trained & apprenticed on all aspects of the business which we have in Altos Enterprises Limited.
My early experience provided me with the foundation of the Managerial & Leadership expertise, which I have developed over the years.
Altos Enterprises Ltd has completed 20 years of its business operations; reflect on the incredible journey of being a trailblazer in Indian Direct Selling Industry.
This year Altos Enterprises has completed 20 years of its business operations. We want to give credit for our successful Market expansion to our Direct Sellers, who have contributed to our trailblazing journey. We have had our share of ups and downs in the market. Nevertheless, the determination of the people who have been associated with us has contributed to our success in the marketplace.

“Health is Life” illustrates the business philosophy with which Altos Enterprises was incorporated. We are proud to have our manufacturing plant, which enables us to produce Health & Wellness products. Our endeavour is on providing our consumers with High-Quality products, which gives them Health and an opportunity to pursue an entrepreneurial career.
While producing our Health products, we follow international standards and ensure that they improve Health Awareness among our users and consumers.
Being a Young Leader yourself, your views on encouraging Entrepreneurship among the Youth in our country
For me, entrepreneurship is more than a buzz word. It encompasses drive and innovation, which brings about positive changes in society. In Altos, we encourage divergent thinking in which our Teams ask open-ended questions, work on problem-solving, share ideas and build on learning experiences.
We also have placed idea boxes, which encourages innovation in the workplace.

I also encourage my employees to write down their thoughts and ideas and analyze its feasibility.
In my opinion, Entrepreneurship has emerged as a powerful, uplifting tool for the people of our country. Further, I have a request to the Government to come out with policies which encourage grassroots entrepreneurship, and it should not remain a catchy policy slogan.
A leader who has inspired you the most?
My inspiration stems from the perseverance towards a goal shown by Mahatma Gandhi. He is an inspiration and guide for Millions of Youth in our country who would like to pursue and practise ethical leadership.
My all-time favourite business quote from Father of Nation is
“A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work – he is the purpose of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing us a favour by allowing us to serve him.”
In recent times I am keenly following New Zealand PM Jacinda Arden and admire her courage and leadership style. She has created a meaningful impact on World Affairs at a young age. Under her inspired leadership, New Zealand is emerging as a dynamic & multifaceted economy.
How do you motivate your employees?
We motivate our employees by providing them with a conducive work environment which nurtures Team spirit, cooperation, and harmony & skill enhancement for employees.
At Altos, we have an open culture which provides feedback to our employees on their performance. We also ensure that our employees are motivated and are driven to excel at work.
What role has been played by your family in scripting your success story as a Managing Director of Altos Enterprises?
My family has played a big part in my success as Managing Director of Altos Enterprises. At every stage of my life, I have been counselled, guided and supported by them. The values they taught me were, courage, add value to the world, always listen, never give up and be honest. These values have shaped me to where I’m today.
Your advice to youngsters who would like to pursue Direct Selling as a career?
To build a successful career in Direct Selling, one has to cultivate patience and learn its nuances. Youngsters getting associated with Direct Selling should work diligently and build their career in a step by step manner.
Further, I would like to advise Youth to invest in learning new things. Direct Sellers need to follow the system which is put in place by the organization. They need to learn from the experience of their uplines.
Strategies adopted by Altos Enterprises to recover itself from the adverse impact of Covid-19
Covid-19 pandemic has impacted businesses adversely. However, we are thankful to our associates for working diligently even when the Government imposed nationwide Lockdown.
Cooperation and support of Direct Sellers all over India are worth mentioning. They were active through Zoom Calls and made optimum use of technology to drive the business. I appreciate the efforts of the Industry body Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) for regularly organizing Webinars during this period, which gave Industry an opportunity to come together on a unified platform during this uncertain time.
Further, we at Altos have added more products to our Immunity Boosting Product Line such as Ayush Kwath, Immune syrup, Ayush Kudineer Capsule & Amla Pure capsule which is supporting our consumers in their Healthy Living & soon we are going to launch Haldi drops with Kesar in this product line.
Your message to the readers for the coming Year 2021
I wish more than Billion Members of Team India, Innovative & sustainable 2021, which takes us nearer to the dream of being a 5 Trillion Dollar Economy.
Our economy needs to bounce back with a 9% growth in 2021.
In the end, as a Young Leader, what kind of dreams do you have for our country?
I dream of an India where every citizen is literate and skilled. I want my country to be considered as a World Class destination for conducting Trade & Commerce Activities.
In terms of Ease of Doing Business, I want my country to be among the top 10 nations in the world. India should have a world-class infrastructure which will ensure hassle-free movement of goods from one part of the country to another.
My India of Dream should be land which breathes growth and ensures growth & development of its people.
