Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Anmol Jamwal:
Tell us a little bit about yourself (background) and your journey as an entrepreneur, please;
I am the Co-Founder and CEO at Feoster. A young professional dreamed to create employment and the desire gave birth to the fastest growing Start-up in Tricity Chandigarh.
I started my entrepreneurial journey at a very young age, when I was 19, I made a cybersecurity company with my brother Neeraj and named it as NAX cybersecurity and sold it for 16k USD.
At the age of 21 with my fellow classmates, I started Feoster with just an idea now we have a customer booking base of 150+ per month on our website.
What is Feoster and in how many cities your operations are going on?
Feoster is an aggregator E-commerce marketplace Tech-Platform for Premium services to Hire Bodyguards, Chauffeur and working in the segment of sharable seats in Private Jets.
We have expanded over 7 cities across the northern part of India in the last 8 months. We have done tie-ups with 13 security agencies and 4 event companies in Tricity (Chandigarh).
Feoster has 350+ registered service professionals in the network and is also known to be India’s first manpower tech-related startup.
Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job?
I always see my dad going early at morning and coming late at night sometimes even after 11 p.m., he was working as VP-HR at MNC so it was a tiring routine for him and I don’t want to live the life he was living.
NAUKRI word came from NAUKAR a Servant. I never want to work as a servant under a boss. I wanted to build my own company and create jobs for others and want to be the boss of myself. In this, my parents supported me a lot and they hold a major contribution to my startup journey so far.
What challenges/obstacles did you face in your startup journey of Feoster so far?
I think we all were around 21 when we started going to the event and security companies, It was hard for us to deal with the comments they usually make about us as we all had baby faces and the fear of rejections makes us even more nervous. I remember we used to grow our moustache and beard to the fullest and didn’t trim it for months to look older and we all started wearing big glasses so they can take us seriously.
How do you deal with stressful situations?
“I stay motivated by thinking about the end result. I’ve found that even in the midst of a challenging situation, reminding myself of my goals helps me take a step back and stay positive.”
What is one strategy that you believe has helped you grow as a successful startup?
Having team members who are smarter than you are essential for a fast-growing startup. It will be your team, not just simply your product and business strategy, that will steer your company to success.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
1) You should always have a burning desire in you to achieve your goals with passion and persistence.
2) It takes time to build a business. It takes time to become a successful CEO. It takes time to learn to drive a car, learn to swim or speak fluently a foreign language.
3) Success in any area of life requires that you act patiently. Otherwise, if you don’t get immediate results, you might get impatient and quit.
What advice would you give to someone starting out a startup or a business?
Based on my experience as working in the startup industry, my advice to anyone starting out a startup or a business would be:-
1) Your product or service should have a market.
2) Do the homework first before taking it out to the market.
3) Always test your product or service with your friends and relative before launching it.
4) Do not do it alone, build a team and work with them.
5) Become a professional. Start by getting business cards, a business phone number and an email address.
