Please share with us a unique challenge you faced in your early career?
In my Market Research career, I was initially responsible for both Operations and Client servicing. This was not really a challenge but a great opportunity to understand the various opportunities and dimensions with regards to client requirements and offerings.
We were able to add value to the reporting aspects in a significant way.
Later I focused on Process Excellence, use of Six Sigma techniques, building up a team of Green and Black Belts and got into Championing projects across South Asia, South East Asia and China.”
How did you discover your passion?
Working with people across boundaries and also understanding cultural nuances made me realise that for good and consistent results we need to focus on enhanced knowledge and techniques like Lean Six Sigma, secondly open them to new ideas of a higher order of leadership skills.
This is a process that has to be planned and using the individual strengths you aid the progression as you are in a position to decide and plan for the team, which are spread across geographical locations.
The pride of working across boundaries, using techniques and seeing them fructifying into clear results and success, enhances your self-image and you maintain the drive.”
With so much going on, how do you start the day to keep your passion alive?
Clarity on dreams and goals will keep your passion alive.”
Techniques of Affirmation and Visualisation immensely help you to take the right actions and propel you towards higher success.
A leader has to be a role model and personally productive to be driving himself and his team to greater heights.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
Keys to success are many, some points which I strongly feel are clarity on your Goals, Goals have to be written, work on the Obstacles and Solutions of your Goals, Attitude of Positive Expectancy, working towards a Balanced Wheel of Life, know that Time is more than money.
We know that you are continuously engaged in helping organisations achieve their goals. Why do you do that?
I strongly believe that there is a gap between performance and potential and it is applicable for individuals and organisations. Knowledge sharing has to be transformational and not just transactional, we need to have a clear measurement of the improvement.
We may use Six Sigma techniques, focus on Business excellence, or focus on attitudes and conditioning changes through a structured Leadership Intervention, it should lead to increased effectiveness and profitability.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
Have absolute clarity on your vision, dreams. Understand that Goals are dreams with deadlines. Continuously enhance your professional credentials by knowing about new techniques.
On your personal front focus on your Attitudes. Overall understand about Balanced Life early and work towards it. Empathy, Managing priorities, making the best use of your time will go a long way to give a slight edge along with being a team player can take you closer to your dreams.
