Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Dinesh:
We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, talk us through your background and your journey, please
Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi very rightly stated:
“Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment”.
Coming from a very humble background, I am the eldest son of the family. From the very beginning hard work, sincerity and gratitude were my three pillars or you can say ladder to the success.
I am an engineer by education along with diploma with highest honours in Business Management from Stratford Institute, USA and a SUN Solaris certification.”
I started my career in Technical Customer Support way-back in 1992 and have 28 years of industry experience covering profiles of Head of Regulatory, Account & Commercial Management and Customer Support in India and USA.
Prior to my current position as Seconded European Standardization Expert in India (SESEI), I have worked with Ericsson for 15 years with the last profile of “Director – Regulatory Affairs & Industry Relation”.
How did you find your passion and purpose and started working with it?
I am a workaholic and technology is my passion. In my current position as an emissary of standards and new technologies, I am living my passion of working towards creating a roadmap for digital and technology-driven society.
5G, Internet of Things, Machine to Machine, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence these are our future, it will impact and drive all sectors whether horizontal or vertical, everything from, agriculture, transport, industries, healthcare, enterprises will be technology centred. The role of new technologies especially in the domain of Information Communication Technology (ICT) has been significantly highlighted during the current pandemic.”
I feel honoured to be a part of this industry which has been at the forefront of technology, innovation, socio-economic development and environmental sustainability.
What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e. what’s your source of motivation?
The answer is very simple, when you love what you do, every day brings new possibilities, opportunities and adds to your repository of knowledge and experience. Development of standards, harmonisation of standards, new technologies, innovation, research and development, these are such dynamic and stimulating things.
Every day, I get to learn something new, there is never a dull moment and that is what is so inspiring and keeps me going.”
How do you manage yourself and keep on going despite the challenges? What drives you?
There are three realms or existence i.e., self, society and environment. When one grow, evolve and contribute in equal measures in all these three realms, one is driven organically and challenges appear as opportunities to evolve further.
The other philosophy I strongly believe in and practice is empowering people, a delegation of work, acknowledging inputs and working as a team.”
Also maintaining work-life balance is essential, as a happy and harmonious family is an extension of society. I start my day by taking blessings from my parents, ensure to spend quality time with my family. I am also a very social person with a large network of friends, acquaintances extended family.
Please share with us – what has worked well for you so far?
There is certainly no alternative to hard work and sincerity. Having said that, team spirit, problem-solving attitude, taking ownership, appetite to learn something new is what goes a long way.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
I think I have already answered this question. Success lies in action, in going an extra mile and to be a problem solver than becoming a problem yourself.
We would love to know your advice for all those starting out?
Follow your passion, take complete ownership of whatever you set out to do not be afraid to make mistakes.
Each one of us has the ability to transform challenges into opportunities.
