Dr. Farhat Daud is a Leader, Seasoned Entrepreneur, Coach, Advisor and Mentor. She is also a passionate Cosmetic Scientist. Dr. Farhat Daud has come a long way in her journey in the field of Cosmetics & Beauty Care from starting out as a Chemist with just a bachelor’s Degree to being a renowned Tech Consultant adding skills on the way as a Master’s & Doctorate in Cosmetic Technology, an additional Post Graduation in Quality Assurance of Cosmetics.
Dr Farhat Daud is now known as a Senior Industrial Consultant due to her rich Experience of 31+ years in Cosmetic Research and Development, Formulation Design, Product Innovations, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Creative & Content Writing and Brand Development along with a rich and fulfilling Academic Experience of over 20+ years.
She specializes in R & D and NPD (New Product Design & Development) in all categories of Skin Hair, Bath & Body Care, Hygiene Care, Soaps & Bathing Bars, Salon Care, Luxury & Premium Range of Cosmetics and Beauty Care with almost 450+ products formulated and developed and launched for 50+ brands globally. As an academician, she has worked on a wide variety of Industry & research projects. She has many Research Papers published in reputed journals and has several Research Projects & Presentations to her credit in National and International Research Journals and Magazines. She has won several awards for ‘ Best Scientific Research Paper/Poster’ at Conferences.
She has more than 25 research publications related to her field and as an Educator she has delivered several educational lectures to big and small prestigious Institutes and organizations.
Currently, she operates under her own Brand “Farhat Daud” with two verticals – ReTech which is the Tech Consultancy which is a B2B segment and Conseil which is a B2C Skin and Hair Wellness Consultancy. Let’s learn more about her background, her journey and her advice for our community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Dr. Farhat:
How did you discover your passion? What made you foray into this space?
It was purely incidental discovery of the profession however the interest set in slowly during the days of my own education and once I entered the industry and started working in the field, passion just followed! The process of creating a formula was in sync with my artistic & creative streak, and when it was backed by science and technology, there was no looking back.
The first time a cream was formulated is a Eureka moment which no scientist can forget even in their lives. That was my turning point too! As I progressed in my profession & skilled myself academically, working with big brands in cosmetics, it seeped into my blood!
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
Love for my Work!! For me, It’s about not complaining, just continuing.
As new methods, processes and product concepts hit the market, it deepens my interest and strengthens my passion to continue tirelessly. Besides, working in different domains is what drives my energy and keeps me going.
The very fact that the field is not just to do with Beauty and physical appearance but much beyond that in terms of affecting one’s self-confidence and mental health, it makes the wellness journey more and more fulfilling with each passing day.”
The challenges are what motivates me to climb the ladder higher and higher as it stimulates my grey cells more than I can think of.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
Pursue your passion.
Don’t give up! You will get your share of success at the right time you deserve it.
However cliché it may sound, just keep believing in yourself as it is very human to sustain and survive what not may come.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
Education (not just academics) and Experience
Attitude + Aptitude
Dedication and hard work- for me there is nothing like a cakewalk!
A slight degree of dissatisfaction and craving to always do better than before!
Never say Never approach
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
Be at it!
Spread your wings and let the fairy in you Fly! Even the sky is not the limit.
Keep exploring! Be a Doer and a Giver !

Everything! The perfect blend of science and creativity, the right mix of technology and tradition,
The process of reaching where I am today has been tough and at times very painful and sour. But that has made the success sweeter.”
