Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Dr Rashmi:

Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?

I began my career working in various corporate roles, where I realized that while technical skills are important, the ability to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and collaborate with others were equally crucial. My interest in helping others develop these skills grew as I saw how transformational they could be in both professional and personal lives.

Over time, I transitioned into training and coaching, focusing on soft skills like communication, emotional intelligence, and leadership. My journey has been about finding ways to empower individuals and teams to unlock their potential through self-awareness and interpersonal skills.

How did you discover your passion?

My passion for soft skills training emerged from my own experiences in the workplace. I saw firsthand how mastering these skills made a real difference in career growth and workplace harmony.

I was often the go-to person for advice on managing team dynamics, improving presentations, and resolving conflicts. As I helped others, I realized that this was where my strengths and passion lay—helping people communicate better, build stronger relationships, and navigate the complexities of the professional world.

Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?

What keeps me going is seeing the impact my work has on others. When someone tells me that a training session or a piece of advice I shared helped them overcome a hurdle or gain confidence, it reminds me of why I do this.

I believe in the long-term benefits of soft skills, and even when things get tough, the knowledge that I’m helping others create lasting change is a powerful motivator. Also, continuous learning and adapting to new challenges keep the work exciting and fulfilling.

What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?

The first lesson is that self-awareness is key to personal and professional growth. Understanding your strengths, weaknesses, and how you come across to others is foundational.

The second lesson is that resilience matters—success is rarely a straight line, and the ability to adapt and bounce back from setbacks is crucial.

The third lesson is that relationships are everything. Whether in your personal or professional life, the quality of your relationships often determines the quality of your outcomes.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

The keys to success, in my view, are self-discipline, emotional intelligence, and adaptability. Self-discipline helps you stay focused on your goals, emotional intelligence allows you to navigate social dynamics and understand others, and adaptability ensures that you can thrive in changing environments.

Success is about aligning your skills and values with your goals and continuously learning and growing along the way.

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

I would advise them to focus on both hard and soft skills. While technical proficiency will get you in the door, it’s your ability to work well with others, communicate effectively, and lead that will take you further.

Never stop learning—whether it’s new industry trends or interpersonal skills. Also, build a network of mentors and peers who can support and challenge you. Finally, stay adaptable, because the world is always changing, and the ability to pivot is invaluable.

Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?

The most satisfying part of my journey is seeing people grow and transform through the skills they develop.

Watching someone gain confidence in their communication, resolve a difficult team issue, or step into a leadership role because of something they learned in training is incredibly fulfilling.

Every individual’s journey is unique, and being a small part of that growth process is what makes this work so exciting and rewarding. I learn for a living.
