As part of this endeavour, we invited Dr. Risha Sharma for an exclusive interview with us. She is an Entrepreneur, Leader, Ayurvedic Consultant and Founder of Wishful Healing Clinic. Let’s learn more about her incredible journey, background and advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Dr Risha:
We are aware of your contributions to the ecosystem; talk us through your background and your journey, please.
I graduated with a degree in BAMS in the year 2013, after which I went to work with Ayurvedic pharmaceutical companies in Chandigarh. I also obtained a postgraduate diploma in naturopathy and yoga therapies in 2014.
Soon after, I started working in Singapore with a Naturopathic Clinic. There I have been working as a consultant for the last 8 years.
In these years, I have worked with people from more than 30 countries. I have an expertise in functional medicine and its applications for the management of lifestyle disorders, autism spectrum disorders, autoimmunity and hormonal issues.
Currently, I run my practice in Chandigarh and I provide online consultations worldwide.
How did you discover your passion?
I always wanted to become a doctor as far as I can remember. That has been my driving force throughout my career.
Being a doctor, helping people heal and bringing them comfort is fulfilling for me on many levels.
I pursued medicine to become a doctor but after entering practice, I became passionately involved in the natural management of health issues due to the amount of improvement we are able to bring to our patients without any usage of drugs or medicines.
How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?
No matter which profession you are in, if you are passionate about it, you will always find a way out of trouble and testing times.
That passion and soul that you put into your work motivates you to keep going. I have had my fair share of ups and downs, self-doubts but in the end, I always bounce back stronger.
This self-belief keeps me going.
Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?
My formative years were blessed with my grandfather’s presence. He was my source of inspiration and motivation. He always had his success stories to tell, which motivated me to become something in life, have a goal and dream of achieving it.
He has been the guiding light in shaping my career path. Though he is not around anymore, but his teachings have been instrumental in making me the person I am today.
What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?
There are a few:
> Being mindful
> Always being resourceful
> Taking extreme ownership and responsibility for my actions
> Ability to take risks & venture into uncharted territories.
> Self-belief and never giving up
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
I will say it straight that there are many factors but if you really have to have the key elements then to me these are the ones:
(a) Accepting & Loving myself.
(b) Responsibility for my actions
(c) Standing up for myself
(d) Resourcefulness
(e) Curiosity
(f) Doing what I do wholeheartedly
What advice would you give to our readers?
Never take your health lightly at any stage of life.
Never lose hope and never give up on yourself. We are all born with flaws and gifts, learn to identify them and work on them.
If you stay healthy, you can become the best version of yourself, so don’t bother about other people’s success or fortune. Enjoy what you do and do it wholeheartedly. Even if you fail, you will know that you at least gave it your best shot.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
Getting great feedback from those who have been inspired through my social media content, through my coaching sessions/programs amps up my energy to deliver more value to them. Seeing shifts in them and in their journey makes it satisfying because I see their success as my success and their breakthroughs as mine.
I have had the opportunity to represent Ayurveda and Naturopathy on internationally. Platforms like the world Ayurveda conference Singapore. Swasthayu 2022 Global consortium conducted by KLE Ayurworld.
I am also a recurrent speaker on webinars conducted by IRES, the Independent Research Ethics society. All these activities help me create more awareness and knowledge about Ayurveda and Naturopathy. The fact that these therapies can bring so much holistic improvement in people brings me great joy and keeps me going.
I want people to become more aware of their health and the things they can do about it without the usage of unnecessary medications.
This is what makes the whole process so satisfying.
