Let us learn more about her background, her inspiring journey so far and her advice for our growing community!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Dr Swetharani:

Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?

My journey in the field of naturopathy and yoga began in 2016 when I started my BNYS (Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yoga Sciences) course. Looking back, I can confidently say that it was the best decision of my life.

Throughout this journey, I have gained deep insights into naturopathy, yoga, and the wisdom of Sanskrit sutras. The experience has been incredibly enriching, not just academically but also on a personal level. It has shaped my understanding of holistic health and wellness, reinforcing my passion for natural healing and mindful living.

How did you discover your passion?

My passion for yoga unfolded in a very organic way. Since childhood, I have been a classical dancer, deeply immersed in the grace and discipline of dance postures. However, it was only after joining my BNYS course that I was introduced to yoga.

Before that, I had no knowledge of yoga postures, but as I started learning, I realized a beautiful connection between classical dance and yoga. This connection made it easier for me to embrace yoga, and over time, I developed a deep love for it.

Today, yoga is an integral part of my life. I conduct yoga classes, including prenatal sessions, power yoga, therapeutic yoga, youth-oriented sessions, and relaxation techniques. Yoga has given me so much—it’s not just a practice but a way of life that continues to inspire me every day.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

The biggest source of motivation in my daily life has been my journey itself—the transformation I have experienced through yoga and naturopathy. Every time I see the positive impact of these practices on my own life and the lives of my clients, it fuels my passion even more. The ability to help others find balance, heal naturally, and embrace wellness keeps me inspired every day.

Additionally, my classical dance background has played a significant role in shaping my discipline and perseverance. The blend of dance and yoga has taught me patience, dedication, and the joy of continuous learning. This journey of self-discovery and growth is what keeps me motivated to explore more, teach more, and evolve every day.

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

Growth, both personally and professionally, is a journey of continuous learning and self-improvement. As a yoga therapist and Zumba instructor, I have developed several key strategies that help me evolve in both fields.
First, consistency and discipline are essential. My classical dance background has instilled a strong foundation of dedication, which I now apply to my yoga and Zumba practice. Regular self-practice and teaching keep me engaged and constantly improving.

Second, adaptability and an open mind are crucial. Every student and client is different, and understanding their needs helps me refine my teaching approach. Whether it’s therapeutic yoga, prenatal yoga, or high-energy Zumba sessions, I strive to create a space where people feel comfortable and motivated.

Lastly, self-care and mindfulness play a significant role. Being in the wellness industry means that I must lead by example, ensuring I take care of my own physical and mental well-being. By staying balanced, I can give my best to my students and continue growing in my field.

In your opinion what are the keys to success?

In my opinion, the keys to success lie in passion, consistency, and continuous learning. Passion is what fuels any journey—when you truly love what you do, challenges become stepping stones rather than obstacles. My journey in yoga, naturopathy, and Zumba has been driven by my deep passion for movement, wellness, and helping others.

Consistency is another essential factor. Whether it’s mastering a new yoga posture, improving my Zumba techniques, or guiding my students through their wellness journeys, showing up every day with dedication makes all the difference. Progress takes time, but consistency ensures steady growth.

Lastly, a mindset of continuous learning is crucial. I believe that no matter how much experience we gain, there’s always something new to explore. By staying open to new knowledge, techniques, and perspectives, I can keep evolving both personally and professionally.

Success isn’t just about reaching a goal—it’s about the journey, the discipline, and the joy of making a difference in the lives of others.

What advice would you give to our readers? 

My biggest advice to readers is to embrace the journey of self-growth with patience and passion. In any aspect of life, consistency and dedication will always lead to progress.

Prioritize your well-being—physical, mental, and emotional. A healthy lifestyle isn’t just about movement; it’s about balance, mindfulness, and self-care. Find what works for you, whether it’s yoga, dance, or any form of exercise that brings you joy.

Most importantly, never stop learning. Growth happens when you stay curious and open to new experiences. Believe in yourself, trust the process, and keep moving forward with confidence and grace.
