He is an experienced director and design consultant with a demonstrated history of working in the exhibition & planning industry. With his rich experience in this space, he is redefining projects for his clients. Let’s read more about his interesting journey, way forward and his advice for aspiring leaders through our exclusive conversation!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Jatinder:
We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, talk us through your background and your journey, please;
The first inspiration we get in our life is from our own family members. My father worked at University and his teaching and providing our educational support to all levels and help us to excel further in life.
My Grand Father worked in India Army workshop and has always inspired us to be disciplined in life and to do things with perfection. As part of society and at various levels I was always inspired to do something more to this ecosystem.”
I completed my Computer science graduation and different courses and certificate and started my career as a creative designer and project management for exhibition, interiors and retails. Also got an opportunity to travel all around the world around 30 countries and all major cities and have learned a lot the way the exhibitions, display and retail designs done by using recycled, sustainable and more eco-friendly materials in our industry.
I got the opportunity to associate with the organization IGE and now I am working with them for the last 10 years. It has been a decade since I am a part of the core team and worked a lot on research and development on the industry. Also to mentor & train and share the experience.”
How did you find your passion and purpose and started working with it?
Well from childhood I used to visit many exhibitions and it was always very exciting and inspirational to know what new technology and new products are coming in the market.
Doing creative designs for different exhibitions which attract visitors to have experienced was the first passion to start with. It was always an inspiration to work on the new creative designs to showcase the advancement in the industry.
And also when in early days of the work I moved to Singapore for training and then was moved to Japan for a major WorldEXPO project that was the time I realised that it was my passion which led me to this level and now it has become my purpose in life to inspire the new talent in the industry.
Whats gets you out of bed in the morning i.e whats your source of motivation?
Every morning I get up with a positive thought in the mind to do something more creative and provide a solution and to inspire the next generation.
Now with the help of social media and latest technology, it’s easier to share your thoughts and to provide more solutions. I aim to add as much value as possible to the lives of next generations and that’s always been my source of motivation.”
How do you manage yourself and keep going despite the challenges? what drives you?
Well, I was born in a joint family and we spent our childhood with our grandparents. My parents and my grandparents always advise us to believe in urself and its important to be innovative in whatever you do and that will give inspiration to others.
So I push myself hard to come up with more creative solutions and always thought about working on creative ideas and to make my parents and grandparents proud of my achievements. It is the biggest drive for me.
Please share with us whats has worked well for you so far?
Any new creative idea which is not very conventional takes time to explain and to be accepted. For me, patience is the key to success.
So I would say, always believe in yourself and your creative ideas. Working in a team is challenging but working together as a team is always a strength.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
Responsibility, hard work and taking up challenging projects is the best learning. Strong belief in our ideas and offering creative solution has always helped us. The adoption of future technology and being ready to learn new trends of innovation has also helped us significantly. We are always ready to adapt to a new situation.
You are always positive and motivated, what keeps you going?
You have to work hard to be a leader and when you reach the level of director one has to be more innovative to have more inspirational projects to share with the next generation. Self-belief and taking up new challenges keeps me going.
