As part of this endeavour, we invited Karishma Dandona Sethi for an exclusive interview with us. She is a Career and Interview Coach, Trainer and Influencer. Let’s learn more about her incredible journey, her background, and her advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Karishma:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
I started my journey in 2005, where I worked with Reliance telecommunications as a Recruiter. Although, my education was in Mass media (Advertising). I have worked for various executive search firms, RPO’s and corporates and my expertise has been in talent acquisition and leadership hiring for various industries.
How did you discover your passion?
When I started working as a Recruiter, I really enjoyed what I did, speaking to people, interviewing them and giving them an opportunity to make a career.
I decided this was it! I loved the fact that I could really make a difference by giving people job opportunities, even though I was just a mediator. I believe it to be a noble profession.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
Recruitment or Talent Acquisition can be an extremely challenging role as you have to deal with people and people can change, their decisions change, moods change and it’s a really unpredictable market.
What motivated me or still motivates me is when I get that call from my candidate saying Thank you for showing this opportunity to me and making the process much easier. It’s the best motivation for me even more than the incentive (money).
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
> Building lasting Relationships
> Develop a Never Give Up Attitude
> Being Resilient is Important
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
Persistence, Continuous learning and self-challenge are essential for success and personal growth.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
My advice to students and young professionals would be to have a growth mindset, never look at the problem aa an obstacle. Look at it as a challenge, and focus on overcoming the challenges.
Also, having a positive mindset is really important to keep yourself stress-free in the corporate world. Focus on what you can do and not on what you cannot.
