As part of this, we invited yet another passionate women entrepreneur Khushboo Shah for an interview with BrilliantRead Media. She is an Entrepreneur, Interior Designer and Co-Founder of ‘The Mark Decor’. Let’s learn more about her background, inspiring journey so far and advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Khushboo:
We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, talk us through your background and your journey as a women entrepreneur, please;
I did my schooling from modern high school for girls and further pursued BA in English Hons from Bhawanipur college along with Diploma in Interior designing from EXTERIOR – INTERIOR PVT. LTD. in kolkata.
I was a passionate individual from the beginning and always aspired to be one of the youngest achievers by delivering high performance in all walks of life.
I have always been very passionate about building something on my own. Even in today’s world, for a woman entrepreneur it takes a lot of struggle to succeed, I built a interior designing team with women only too aspire and encourage them in all walks of like.
So as soon as I graduated from college, I successfully established my INTERIOR DESIGNING firm under the name of ‘THE MARK DECOR’.
What attracts you towards entrepreneurship instead of a corporate career?
I chose entrepreneurship because I always wanted to make an impact. I have always been intrigued by entrepreneurship and read the success stories of all the successful entrepreneurs.
You see – It’s fascinating how you build something from the scratch to build an empire around it and not everyone can do it. It takes a lot of courage, planning, perseverance, hard work, teamwork, combined with good strategy & execution skills.
During school, I chose psychology intentionally because I was very passionate about the human perceptions.I always wanted to design such a space which is eco friendly and help the clients with easy, economical and speedy construction.
‘The Mark Decor’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving?
So we came up with the term mark for a particular reason. its a partnership firm with my partner , meghna shah.m.a.r.k are all initials of me (k), meghna (m) and our husbands apurva and rachit shah ,( a.R).
We not only desing spaces keeping the aesthetics in mind but even design the lifestyle of the client around it. if its a home or an office or a boutique, functionality is our prime most concern.

How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?
Empowering and challenging the myths, stereotypes about wellness journey to have self-awareness and courage to do their own therapy to live a life of respect, dignity and treat others with the same ethical principles is my drive to work in this field.
Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?
My parents and now my kids and nieces. But ultimately, now I think each and every member of my team motivates me to move ahead and be more productive.
What are some of the strategies that you believe has helped you grow as a person?
There are a few:
(1) Being mindful
(2) Positive affirmations and vision board
(3) Taking extreme ownership and responsibility for my actions Courage
(4) team work
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
One word – Consistency and Focus.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
In a service industry at times work can seem very demanding, to keep patience and politeness intact takes us a long way.
Last but not least, what are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
(a) Your vision needs to be crystal clear in your mind to achieve it.
(b) Self evaluation and me time takes u a long way
(c) Small goals with deadlines help achieve larger goals in life
