Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Manvi:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
Right after my diploma in business management, I joined a real estate company as a brand management professional. It was only last year that I realised that ultimately, to grow and be happy in a real sense, in personal as well as professional life, a person needs to work on their relationship with themselves and others. It was then that I decided to leave my job and put my whole focus on life coaching.
I specialise in relationship building and healing to make people really happy in their lives which would eventually spill over to all other areas of their lives. Currently, I am working as a founder and life coach at Tenacious Lives to help people find peace in their personal as well as professional life.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
The thought of helping people who are struggling in their relationships, keeps me going even during tough times.
There is a very powerful quote ‘Before giving up, remember why you started’ and I have made this my motivational mantra. I feel if you are really propelled to do something, no excuse can be good enough for you to give up.
Also, if you are working for the greater good, you find the energy to keep going because then it’s not just about you anymore.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
One thing that I have learnt is to never give up. I have had many rough patches in the past when I felt quite hopeless and wanted to give up everything. But every time, I mustered all my energy and asked myself ‘What if success is just around the corner?’ I constantly reminded myself to keep going and read about the lives of people who achieved a lot even in the face of hardships. ‘Wings of Fire’ by Dr. APJ ABDUL KALAM was one such book that highly inspired me.
Another thing is to find out things that you are really passionate about. If you work for something that provides true meaning to your life, then you will be self-motivated to work hard. Your journey would be as beautiful as the destination.
Other than that, I have learnt to filter out negative people and negative thoughts. When you surround yourself with positive people, your whole outlook becomes positive.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
The most important thing is definitely consistency. You have to be regular in whatever you are doing. Without getting deterred by the obstacles and setbacks, you should continue doing what you have set your eyes on.
Apart from this, a positive mindset is very important. Unless you believe that you are on the right path Nd you will achieve what you want, you can’t continue with your endeavour.
Developing a ‘learning mindset’ is also very important. You must be ready to accept that you still don’t know a lot and you should keep trying to learn something new every day. It could be a new language or a new skill or any other thing.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
For students, I want to say that go for a stream or course that you are passionate about. Every single profession pays. A lawyer, a doctor, a corporate employee, a teacher even a street vendor can earn handsomely. What matters is whether you are good at what you are doing or not. For. Eg. You would find many doctors hardly have any patients while many others who are earning in crores. You just need to work on your skill set to succeed.
For professionals, I would say that keep assessing your position on a regular basis. You might have liked the job or the profession when you would have joined, but maybe now you wish to change. Or, maybe you wish to upgrade your skills. So, a regular introspection of your current professional life is very important. And, if you feel that you are not happy with the current scenario, by all means, do try and change it.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
Knowing that my efforts are putting a smile on someone’s face keeps me going. I feel that I am not just carrying out a work, it feels like I am actually adding real value to someone’s life.
