Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Mohamed Ghouse:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
My professional journey so far has been a love story between technology and transportation. Being an IT personnel for the past 13 years or so, technology has been an integral part of me. I always wanted to combine my love for technology and passion for entrepreneurship by creating something of my own.
The transition from a full time employee to an entrepreneur was no walk in the park. I was laid off just before covid and was in the crossroads of life applying for different jobs in every portal until one day I decided to take the leap to start my own business. And then a random conversation with one of my friends made the inception of PikMyCar.
My journey as an entrepreneur started in 2019 and it has been a rollercoaster ride worth taking. It has been challenging yet rewarding and continues to be exciting thus far. We have made significant progress over the years and look forward to scaling the business further.
‘Pikmycar.com’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving?
Working people are tied down with their full-time jobs and are forced to take their car for servicing during the weekend which forces them to compromise their time with family.
We realised there is a pain point that needs to be addressed. That’s how Pikmycar came into being.
I keenly watched this pattern of time consumption and the need to keep their cars up and running, which paved the way for me to bridge the gap, and hence PikMyCar.
PikMyCar ensures to pick up and drop off your car at the right time, designated location with the utmost professional care, so you can sit back and relax while your car is taken to your desired service centre.”
Apart from this, we provide recovery roadside assistance. Airport transfers. And safe drivers.
On a day to day basis fulfilling customers’ wants, our race against time in a busy world, keeping our pace with technology, etc are a few problems that we face on a daily basis.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
One positive word that shows hope amongst all the negative comments. It is a belief that nothing is permanent and hard work pays off, just keep your faith in the almighty and blindly trust him. I strongly feel being able to give back to the society is the biggest blessing one can have. So helping people and giving back to the society keeps me going. It is the vision of a brighter tomorrow that keeps me motivated.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
1) Trust in God no matter what the situation
2) Surround yourself with the right people
3) No matter how blessed you are always stay humble
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
I will say it straight that there are many factors but if you really have to have the key elements then to me these are the ones:
– Patience
– Accepting & Loving myself.
– Responsibility for my actions
– Standing up for myself
– Enhancing a Positive Attitude
– Taking massive action (execution) with consistency and belief
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
Choose a career that you are passionate about and make your passion a reality.
Not every journey is a bed of roses. There will be ups and downs but how do you deal with it and come out of it is what matters.”
Think good and do good and you will get that in return. Give importance to the real things and not materialistic things.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
When god has a plan to give you the best no odds or no man can stop that. Experiencing god’s blessings and the way I am able to do what I want for the people in need has been satisfactory.
Becoming an entrepreneur without any base is indeed a big accomplishment and overcoming a lot of obstacles and hurdles and when you seeing it being paid off it is so soul-satisfying that you have made the right decision and taken the right path.
