Let’s read more about her journey so far!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with her:

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your startup;

I am a passionate entrepreneur, wife and the mother of two beautiful daughters Mahira Puri and Amyra Puri. I am also the winner of Elite Mrs.India 2018 and Elite Mrs World 2019.

I and my husband Mr Ghanshyam Puri are into business. I am Co-Founder and Director of Dun Hamston India Pvt Ltd. This company is into the hospitality industry and owns the brand The Suez which is ready to write a new chapter and taking India’s restaurant business into a new era. With this brand, we have tried to revolutionize the restaurant industry and we believe that our business model has changed the way the conventional businesses are run.

Why did you choose entrepreneurship over job?

I think what separates an entrepreneur from an employee of a company is not just one thing but a series of qualities. An employee works for what he has been expected. A good employee of a company seeks directions from the higher ends and tries to deliver what has been expected from the higher ends.

On the contrary, I think for an entrepreneur it is very important to have a visionary outlook, to work out of the comfort zone, to be able to take calculative risks, to make strong decisions and above all to have full commitment to work for the decisions which were made and make the idea successful. In my case, I see these entrepreneur’s quality in myself and believe that I have the potential to create a work culture where everyone can be benefited from my idea and vision.

What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e what’s your source of motivation?

I see every morning as an opportunity.  I feel that there is some restlessness in me which pushes me forward. I have big dreams and I know the fact that all of my dreams cannot be fulfilled overnight but I try to put at least one piece of brick each day.

What challenges/ obstacles did you face in your journey so far?

The biggest challenge or obstacles which I feel I face is to find people with the same wavelength as I have. To create something, you need a team who understands and believe in your vision. For this, we require people with high energy and passion to prove themselves.  So sometimes it becomes challenges to create a replica of yours but I think when it does, I feel a sense of accomplishment.

Tell our audience more about your failures? How should one bounce back?

I think, it is impossible to be successful without facing failures, in my case I did face some of them and I still face every now and then.  I believe initially the failures used to have a larger impact on me emotionally and physically. But when you start learning from your failures the impact does not have the same intensity as it has to be. For an entrepreneur, it is very important to possess the quality of self-motivation. There are times when you can’t find anyone who understands your situations and motivates to bounce back except your near ones. In these situations, I usually calculate the situation and see the best possible way out of that situation.

What comes first for you – Money or Emotions?

I think neither of these two.  As far as money is concerned, I do not work for money. Yes, it is the by-product of a successful business, but what drives me is the ability to create something which I dreamt of. Business for me is like giving birth to a baby, you create it, give values, make it disciplined, train it to possess special skills to stand by the toughest situations and when it grows and proves itself, you feel proud to be its parent.

On the other hand, I feel emotions are one of the hindrances in the way of a visionary person. One can be empathetic or sympathetic but decisions cannot be made solely on emotions. It should have practical ground to it.
