Let’s learn more about her background, journey and her advice for our community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Niharika:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
As any 16-year-old I started my journey aspiring to be a TV anchor or famous classical dancer. From a very early age of 5-year-old, I started performing in Delhi’s eminent auditoriums and started learning the classical dance “Kuchipudi dance “while performing the same at numerous festivals and occasions all over India. Dance, Music Television and stage were the things my heart always desired.
Yet with great genuineness post my MA in Mass communication I worked in various leading TV channels, Print Media and Advertising agencies. But in the last three years after losing my parents my mind took a turn and to channel all my deep sorrows and pain, I launched my Two art and music-based IPS “Nritya ballet” and “Joshiley”.
The vision behind both was to give a platform to all talented upcoming artists along with taking Indian art and dance towards this new era where Youth demand different content and needs to work hard towards attracting them into Indian Classical music genre.
In my mind I just wanted to leave behind my contribution and legacy before I passed away from this world. Probably a reason of living to mark your identity in this world and to move forward from the pain of loss.
How did you discover your passion?
I was born with a passion of dancing and even when I was busy studying or working in corporates or media I never left my passion. Now when u reach a certain age, surprisingly you gain more confidence and courage to make many dreams into reality so that’s what pushed me to follow my passion into reality.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
I remember watching this interview where famous Hollywood star Salma Hyak talks about how people around us pull us down when we make stupid mistakes and suddenly with a zest she said “Yes I made a mistake so what, its mine and I am not ashamed of it, I made it and learn a lot from it.
Go make yours too. That interview truly inspired me a lot and I too at times make many personal and professional mistakes which may bring many severe challenges and tough times even then I know all needs to be handled gracefully and without self-pity or regret as eventually whatever has to happen will happen One just have to be strong to hold on and never give up !!!
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life
> Nothing is impossible until you yourselves don’t give up on it
> There is no age to live your re-start your life the way you want to live.
> Don’t’ look for happiness and success to be provided by others, just work made and support others to give them what you expect from there as eventually you in return would give the same back to yourselves.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
– Sincerity and honesty towards your dreams and goals, accept failures as one would cherish success.
– Leadership is not about controlling people; it’s about building a team so if we build a good team with compassion and an honest attitude success will always be yours.
– Always start the journey with realistic goals before reaching the end point of what you want.
– Superiority is not in commanding people but giving powers to your team members and having faith in them even when they make mistakes guide them but don’t pull them down. As wars are won with soldiers not alone.
– Learn, Learn and Learn whenever you don’t know from people around you and use it when you make important decisions. Listen to everyone, even if the decision is yours to make.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
Don’t be lazy and be always honest to your selves, your superiors, your friends, family and Don’t push problems aside face them upfront.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
My journey is exciting as even after working for the last 25 years I just restarted it for last year towards the dreams I wanted 25 years back proving that anything is possible if you truly and passionately want it and as in one of the Shah Rukh Khans movies Dialogue “AGAR AAP SHIDDAT SE KUCH MANGO TO POORI KAYINAT USSEY APKO MILANE MAI MADID KAREGI”
So never stop dreaming and never give up on them as nothing is impossible till you haven’t tried out again and again to make it happen.
