Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Nupur:
We are aware of your contributions to the ecosystem; talk us through your background and your journey, please;
After spending a large part of my life in the corporate world, I decided to pursue my true calling and become a Life Coach. I now guide people in finding their life purpose and discovering their true selves.
I am a Corporate Marketing professional with almost twenty- three plus years of rich work experience across a gamut of industries. Have held leadership positions in blue chip organizations like Tata, Reliance, Ogilvy & Percept. Also a certified NLP practitioner and Non-Violent Communication (NCV) process holder.
After managing brands, businesses and people for more than two decades across industries, I embarked on a new journey of Life Coaching to find greater meaning in life by helping others discover their true selves and overcome obstacles in their quest for personal and professional endeavours.
I believe life is about knowing why you’re here and living purposefully. Having worked across industries I bring in my diverse experience to coaching and mentoring. My personal and professional experiences stood testimony to innumerable challenges and transitions all these years. As a Life Coach, I wish to pass on my learnings to everyone’s benefit and the greater good and help clients gain insight and transformation.
Today I am a trained Life coach and Mentor and have created a lifestyle as a solopreneur where every day I do what I love the most and I’m the boss! I have authored a bestselling book – IN IT TO WIN IT: Getting the Most out of Life. It is available on Amazon, Flipkart, Notion Press store and Kindle.
How did you discover your passion for ‘Life Coaching’?
After spending a large part of my life in the corporate world, I had reached a stage in my career where I wanted to do something more meaningful in my life and contribute to society. My corporate career was taking care of all my bills with a steady paycheck, but it was not taking care of me.
I have always been immensely drawn to social causes. Then the pandemic happened & it played a crucial role in making that decision to take that step forward. As it made us introspect, take a step back and rethink our lives… what are we running after, how fragile everything is.”
“It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.” That is when Life Coaching happened. It is all about making the decision. It helped my passion for touching and making a difference to people’s lives by providing the right tools and mechanisms to make a change in their lives.
Now I’m a Life & Mindset coach, Mentor assisting people in transforming their lives, and I love what I do! I am on a continuing quest to be the best life coach & mentor to my clients that I can possibly be.
How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?
I believe that each one of us can serve the world in our own unique way and win, overcoming the challenges we come across. I impress upon resilience as a life skill that one can learn over a period of time to navigate setbacks and adapt to change.
Empowering and challenging the myths, stereotypes about life journey, dwelling into self-awareness and courage to live a life of respect, dignity and treating others with the same ethical principles is my drive to work in this field.
I believe in –
‘Stick to the fight when you’re the hardest hit. It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.’
Please share with us, how do you motivate your clients?
I act like a supportive friend, and a facilitator rolled into one. I help my clients get clarity in life; identify self-limiting beliefs and how they impact their lives. And then come up with strategies for overcoming each obstacle. I provide a safe space for listening and sharing.
My coaching is a means to bridge the gap between your current circumstances and the life you’d like to lead. I help my clients gain a fresh, informed perspective on their problems. Asking them to look at the bigger picture in life.
Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?
My parents have always been my biggest inspiration. Their selflessness in life has always fascinated me. Though I lost them more than a decade ago, I always try to think of their response in the given situation whenever I am in a situation. I am always guided by them.
What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?
My belief in myself, risk-taking capacity, self-reliance and faith in spirituality is the most powerful strategy that has helped me grow. However, I must say that being decisive and accountable for your tasks is equally important for personal growth.
What are the business mantras you have embraced as you sought to establish your success story?
The biggest mantra is seeking the right opportunity and performing to the best of your capability when you get that opportunity.
Create enough visibility and present yourself as a credible brand to ensure that you get the best opportunity. I prepare myself to give my best shot at every opportunity that comes my way.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
It all depends on what success means to you. Most people define success as having a great job, money, and peer respect. However, there are many factors responsible for success.
I would like to quote Brian Tracy- “The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on things we desire, not things we fear.”
(a) Self-love – Accept & love yourself as you are
(b) Be Action Taker and take responsibility for all your actions
(c) Be ready for the Unforeseen
(d) Powerful Belief System
(e) Invest in Yourself
(f) Resilience & Persistence
(g) Clarity of Thought
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
For students, I would say don’t live in this misconception that your professional experience starts after college. Start looking for opportunities before you graduate. Expand your skills and knowledge. Companies look for team members with the ability to work in diverse settings.
Remember, Internships are the lifeblood of the college experience. Nothing beats a hands-on education. Just be careful to select the right internship to help you work towards your entry-level career. For young professionals, I would say, please be ambitious enough to go for your dream. Resilience & Persistence is the path to success.
To have a successful career, you need to keep reinventing yourself and upgrading your skill sets because if you don’t, you become redundant. Never make this mistake of banking on your professional degree, which you acquired some 10-15 years back.
With new technology and processes, the world has changed, and things are changing fast; don’t sleepwalk through your career. Another important aspect of a career is to create your own personal Brand. Build and maintain your reputation.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
In my 23-plus years of corporate career, I have held many senior positions, recognized & awarded on various platforms. But what gives me immense satisfaction is when I can bring clarity and breakthrough for my clients via my life coaching & mentoring. Little did I realize that I would receive so much love and recognition on this journey.
Decide the type of person you want to be. Prove it to yourself with small wins. Being recognized and appreciated for your work is always gratifying. My client’s testimonials and recognition by various eminent bodies is a true testimony that I am on the right path.
