As part of our endeavour to identify and share some of the unique and compelling stories from India and around the world, we invited Ora Nadrich for an interview with us to understand more about her inspiring entrepreneurial journey so far. She is a pioneering Mindfulness expert, international speaker and coach, and founder of the Institute for Transformational Thinking. Let’s learn more about her inspiring journey, background and advice for our growing community.
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Ora:
Tell us about your background and your journey, please.
I’ve always been a seeker — someone who wanted to know about the deeper meaning of life. But when my older sister had a nervous breakdown it became a life-changing experience that put me on an extensive psycho-spiritual journey to find out the workings of the mind.
This led me to Jungian analysis for my own self-realization, and I discovered that I wanted to devote my life to helping others understand themselves from the depths of their being. I studied many spiritual modalities and became certified in Mindfulness and meditation.
I’ve written three books, which are based on cognitive skills and Mindfulness, and I continue to write and teach about how to practice Mindfulness daily for a much more satisfying, and ultimately more meaningful, existence.
What led you to create ‘The Institute for Transformational Thinking’ and what kind of contribution is it making?
Everything I do, all of the books that I write and the work to train Mindfulness coaches, are intended to help others change and transform their thinking in the most useful, beneficial ways.
I created the IFTT — The Institute For Transformational Thinking — because I wanted it to be the basis of the work that I put out into the world. We facilitate workshops and have created the online Thought Coach Certification Training Course.
I believe that the contribution that the IFTT is making is teaching and guiding people to be the creators and masters of their inner dialogue, which can manifest the reality they desire.
What are some of the strategies that have helped you grow as a person and a professional?
I feel that the strategies that have helped me grow are the very things that I recommend to others. They are having wellness practices that support one’s overall well-being. This includes things like Mindfulness, meditation, self-reflection, self-care, and anything that promotes optimum health for mind, body, and spirit. Without mental and physical wellness disciplines, one cannot achieve growth either personally or professionally.
My strategy of practising and coaching others about Mindfulness has led enormously to my growth. Mindfulness has proven wellness benefits. It’s an inherent ability each of us has. It helps us to raise our level of consciousness and to live authentically.
It’s possible to implement Mindfulness in all that we do, which can be eating slowly and really tasting your food without rushing, or taking a leisurely walk and paying close attention to the sounds of nature around us. By training our minds to be more present, we find ourselves much more appreciative of the moments of our lives and less inclined to rush through them. And, by living more aware and contemplatively, we adopt the strategies that support our well-being.
What drives you to keep going despite the challenges?
I am driven by spiritual and psychological growth and any personal development that can help me become a more evolved human being. I feel passionate about the power of Mindfulness because I believe it holds the key for not only heightening our awareness but also raising consciousness — both individually and collectively.
If we aren’t present and aware, we stand a greater chance of remaining unconscious, which proposes a serious threat to our humanity. History has shown us that when people are unconscious, or unaware of dysfunction and looming darkness, they can easily be taken over by powers greater than them and catastrophic consequences can occur.
What do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your life?
I would say that the biggest source of motivation in my life has been to grow as a human being. I feel that life is a gift, and we are here in this world to reach our greatest potential to fulfil our destiny.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career and meaningful life?
My best advice to students and young professionals would be to set your intentions for what you want to accomplish in your life and let that be the motivation that fuels you each and every day.
Having a clear aim or plan helps you to achieve your purpose, to realize your goals and dreams, and to live a meaningful life.
