Excerpts from our exclusive interview with her:
We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, talk us through your background and your journey as a trainer, please;
I am an Emotional Intelligence Practitioner, a Public speaker and a Corporate Trainer. I strongly believe, ‘Training is not just Information but Transformation’.
I completed B.Tech in Information Technology and started my career as an IT professional in a reputed corporate company. There I got an opportunity to shift to ‘Learning and Development’, where my journey as a Trainer started.
Soon, I realized that ‘Training’ is where I belong to. So, I completed a Master diploma in Training and Development in Indian Academy of Training and Development in Chennai.”
When I continued training both corporate employees and the public, I understood that Emotional Intelligence is the base of every other training program. So, I specialized in Emotional Intelligence and completed the certification from EQ Universe, Chennai.
Now I have 4+ years of experience in the Training industry and have trained 3000+ participants in IT industry, Construction sectors and Educational Institutions in the below topics,
1) Emotional Intelligence
2) Time Management
3) Effective Communication
4) Presentation Skills
5) Team Skills
6) Stress Management
7) Public Speaking Skills
8) Personality Development
I have conducted Health awareness programmes and have hosted events for 500+ consultants in the Healthcare industry. I have conducted training both live and online.
I created a YouTube channel, “Building a Better Today”, where I post my videos in both English and Tamil to share my knowledge with the society.
My ideology is “Think Big, Believe in yourself and Act on your Thought”.
How did you find your passion and purpose and started working with it?
When I was in the final year of Engineering, I got placed in a reputed IT company. There I got the opportunity to explore different departments like Development, Maintenance, Testing and L&D. When I started training the employees in L&D, I realized the joy of sharing my knowledge with others and transforming them to grow in their career.”
I wanted my participants to transform as much as possible. So, I developed my competencies by completing the certifications in the training industry and specialized in Emotional Intelligence. Then I started to do Freelance training to corporates, public and educational institutions.
What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e. what’s your source of motivation?
I believe in Intrinsic motivation rather than extrinsic, which we may or may not receive every time. Since my passion is to transform as many lives as possible, I have to work more on myself every day, which gets me out of my bed in the morning.
How do you manage yourself and keep on going despite the challenges? What drives you?
As a woman, taking care of family and growing in the career is always a challenge, especially in our society. I try not to do everything myself but delegate whatever is possible. I want to be the inspiration to my own daughter first, that’s what drives me.
During the challenging period of the pandemic, I reminded myself of my passion and tried to find every possible way to keep going. I started conducting Online training. I created my YouTube Channel, “Building a Better Today”, where I posted my videos as short as 2 mins to reach the audience with a clear and crisp message, which will be useful to them.”
Please share with us – what has worked well for you so far?
Law of attraction always works for me. Whenever I needed to decide on something important, my Mentors would just come to me and show me the correct path. My training opportunities too flow on my path and am very happy about that.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
I strongly feel that the key to success is how we face failure. From childhood, we were taught that the opposite of success is a failure, which is not true. Giving up is the opposite of success.
We have to understand that none of the successful people has reached success without facing failure. We have to listen to our inner voice, believe in ourselves and take actions as per our instincts.
You are always positive and motivated, what keeps you going?
The truth is I am not always positive. Like every other human being, I do have mood swings but I consciously make efforts to be aware of what is going on within me and take actions to get back to be positive, so that I can spread that positivity to people around me.
Every time I conduct training, I see a sparkle in the eyes of my participants, that gives me loads of energy and keeps me going in the right direction.
We would love to know your advice for all those starting out?
Every time you fail, remember you are one step closer to success. Be focused and keep away from distractions. Surround yourself with positive people. Give whatever you can to society. Accept more and Expect less. All the Best.
