As part of this endeavour, we invited a passionate entrepreneur – Raghavendra Ganiga for an exclusive interview with us. Raghavendra is an Entrepreneur, Business Leader, and Founder & CEO of Mobiezy. Let’s learn more about his exciting journey, his background and his advice for our growing community:
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Raghavendra:
Talk us through your background and your journey as an entrepreneur, please;
I did my schooling from a small town called Bhadravathi in Karnataka and further pursued engineering in Electronics and Communications from KVG College of Engineering under Mangalore University. After college, I started my career from Satyam Computers in Hyderabad.
After that, I got a chance to work for Iflex Solutions, 3Com Corporation, Supervalu and MetricStream. In MetricStream which is a GRC product company, I got good exposure in solution designing and product implementation. I truly enjoyed and learned many things while implementing MetricStream products to big enterprises in many European countries, Middle East and South Africa.
I used to always dream about building something on my own and I was looking for that real interesting problem. In 2015 Startup was a buzz world and meanwhile, I came across real problems which small subscription based businesses are going through. I got convinced that this was a big opportunity and I started Mobiezy.”
What attracts you towards entrepreneurship instead of a corporate career?
In fact, throughout my Corporate career, I never had any issue with my job or Boss. I was getting a decent salary but I found a steady paycheck boring. In each of these companies where I worked, I really got inspired by the way the Founder built that company.
I wanted to create employment, solve real problems.
I always felt only through Entrepreneurship I can contribute something larger than myself. I always believed that being your own boss can be pretty awesome and I think that is the main reason for the start of Mobiezy.”
‘Mobiezy’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving?
Mobiezy provides a scalable and interactive platform on top of which business-specific applications can be built easily. This platform is built to keep the interest of subscription-based businesses and last-mile service providers in India. The platform has many external integration points like payment gateway, UPI Apps, SMS gateway, WhatsApp and IVR etc.
Currently, more than 2000+ businesses use the Apps built on this platform to automate and organize their business across India. We are currently serving many Last-Mile operators of Pay TV Industry PAN India.”
Using our Apps these businesses are able to achieve better accountability, provide exceptional customer experience, become significantly more efficient, increase transparency & automate overall operations.
RentOS is our new Product built on this platform which helps many Real Estate owners and agencies in streamlining and enhancing the entire rental and management process.
The aim is to connect landlords, property managers and tenants to maintain their rental records and history online. This App cuts down a lot of manual activities. RentOS has been selected as one of the Top Property Management Apps of 2021 by LeapDroid.
During this COVID-19 crisis, what are the measures you have undertaken to continue your business without disruption?
Our solution is built to digitize the small and medium businesses, this helps them to organize their business and increase efficiency, many of them wanted to implement our solution during this pandemic.
In fact, during this situation, we saw a good improvement in our overall growth. As most of the smart businesses did, we also tried different things during this pandemic.
We built RentOS, we helped a wellness startup to build a Mobile App. With all these experiments we were able to increase the team efficiency, we were able to learn new things, we saw a good cash flow. I think we as a team reacted to this pandemic situation maturely.
How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?
Entrepreneurship comes with flexibility, freedom, and adventure.
I have come a long way over the past five years, but it wasn’t without a lot of stress and confusion.
It takes a lot of self-motivation and an overall strong Emotional Quotient to be able to do some justice to your journey of being an entrepreneur.”
The secret is to set simple goals and drive toward Winning those.
What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?
There are quite a few:
1) Keep learning and keep experimenting
2) Adapting to the change
3) Being simple and helping others
4) Taking risks
You are always positive and motivated, what keeps you going?
I try to remain focused on what matters, even in the most critical and frustrating times. I keep visualizing myself succeeding which is a powerful technique that helps me to focus, stay motivated and achieve goals. I believe motivation starts within. Find it, keep it and make it work for you.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to start a startup?
If they have thought about doing a startup, first of all, I would like to congratulate them, for that out of the box thinking.
We always believe that our idea is the next big thing in this world but we are not aware of how the market will accept that.
So you have to follow your passion, do good research, find mentors, network constantly, cultivate grit because it takes a lot of hard work to build. Be ready for a lot of ups and downs. Mainly stop comparing yourself to others.
