At BrilliantRead Media, we always strive to bring meaningful and powerful stories from India and around the world to empower and motivate our growing community. As part of this endeavour, we invited Rajanikhanth Iyer for an exclusive interview with us. He is a Leadership, Life and Executive Coach and an Influencer. Let’s learn more about his incredible journey, his background, and his advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Rajanikhanth:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
I had an unconventional education as I never studied when I had to. I rather believed in acquiring skills and knowledge. So I took up menial jobs to start and it was these early decisions in life that helped me learn the practical nuances of work. To be honest, it would not be wrong to say that I was lost in my career.
I frantically shifted from one job to another and one industry to another to widen my horizons. I learned a lot from various industries and some things from some parts of my job still help me in the decision making.
I understood what makes me useful when I became a trainer and started training. Though, there were many failures I decided to stick around and learn. Also, did my masters in HR from IMT CDL, Ghaziabad later to enhance my learning and training.
Now I am on a journey of lifelong learning. Currently, pursuing my Associate Certified Coach Credentials from ICF.
How did you discover your passion?
When I saw people’s eyes sparkle when they learnt something new during my sessions. I realised this early on that this was my calling. Coaching is something that I enjoy to the core. I love adding value to the lives of others.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
Positive attitude.
I don’t easily get bogged down by failures or setbacks. Having spent so many years in the industry gives me an edge.
I just know that everything happens for a reason and I don’t need to know the reason.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
1) Set goals, be focussed, be persistent on them and work towards them till you achieve them. There could be a delay but not denial.
2) Ask for what you want and not for what you don’t want.
3) Fear will stop you, Take Action. Fail to learn.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
> Hard work
> Consistency
> Coming out of comfort zones
> Discipline
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
The time to study is now.
Finding your passion and working towards it while studying is the best way to be on track for a great career ahead.
