At BrilliantRead Media, we always strive to bring meaningful and powerful stories from India and around the world to empower and motivate our growing community. As part of this endeavour, we invited Revathi Ramakrishnan for an exclusive interview with us. She is an Entrepreneur, Leader, Architect and Founder & Principal Architect of Reva Architects. Let’s learn more about her incredible journey, background and advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Revathi:
We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, talk us through your background and your journey as a women entrepreneur, please;
I grew up in Chennai city in a very orthodox family and it has always been a struggle to achieve everything. Most of the time I try to push myself and have never given up on what I wanted to do. My friends have my strength and support through all times.
Growing up in a city with rich cultures and diverse habituality, I wanted to conserve the lifestyle and culture with futuristic sustainability.
Doing even the smallest contribution to the ecosystem makes a healthy environment and it comes to a building, it needs to be energy efficient, sustainable and also be the identity of the user and the local.
What attracts you towards entrepreneurship instead of a corporate career?
I have always dreamt of creating my own identity and when it comes to being a designer, I need to have a brand value. Creating an identity/ brand for your work also speaks a lot about you. For me, I have always aspired to grow high and my passion towards the work make me complete.
I have always been out of the box in both good and bad growing up and every action of mine makes me stand out. I would like to be an inspiration to the all the women because my story was not a smooth ride and believing in myself has kept me going.
‘Reva Architects’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving?
Reva Architects is named after myself. The first of the name from Revathi is what I chose because I wanted to create a brand for myself and the name to reach out to the extent.
Struggling, striving and keeping myself consistent has made me stronger and keep going. I focus on creating spaces that belong to the user and the local.
I also make sure not to impose the modern lifestyle on the user but rather give them the solution to retain the tradition with creative solutions.
What does your company specialise in?
We specialise in Architecture, Interior and Landscape. We offer the best services for the client until we see the smile on their face.
How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?
I do not give up until I do it up to my satisfaction. I dedicate hours day and night to give the best of mine and I also make sure that every work of mine gets better.
I wouldn’t care about winning, what’s important to me is my satisfaction because every time I learn and I would give the best of all for my client.
What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?
I have always believed in myself. Keeping oneself consistent even during the peak and fall is important. I have always had a good sleep when I fail because I know that I’m going to be successful in the next turn and I fear to keep myself stable and consistent when I face success because I know that I’m going to fail very soon. It is important to accept both and keep oneself focused, after all, life is a cycle.
Given the rapid pace at which the world is changing, what are the leadership traits that are necessary for success?
Consistency! It is a very simple word but it’s very difficult to follow. Being consistent and keeping consistency will take a lot of you and will also make you a shining star among all the stars.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
Having a positive attitude is very important, being optimistic has been my strength.
Every day is a learning opportunity and being humble in life will always keep you afloat.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
First and foremost point is to accept your failure, only then you will understand and learn the secret of being better. Make sure you grow every day and every work of yours should show your growth.
It is also important to understand the user/client for your work to stand out and creating modern solutions to retain the tradition will make also the Environment grow healthy.
Last but not least, what are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
> Never give up,
> Always being Optimistic
> Believe you can and you are halfway there.
