At BrilliantRead Media, we always strive to bring to our community some of the finest stories from the entrepreneurship world. As part of this endeavour, we invited a passionate entrepreneur – Rohit Singh for an exclusive interview with us. Rohit is an Entrepreneur, Leader, Architect, Consultant and Mentor. He is the Founder of Meanohara. Let’s learn more about his inspiring journey, his background and his advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Rohit:
We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, talk us through your background and your journey, please;
Formative years of growing up in diverse Army cantonments and my ancestral village imparted an interesting combination of spatial exposure, terrain, architecture and design. From vernacular to classical and subsequently the familiar modernist era style managed to provide the backdrop for this theatre, grand, if I may add.
My architecture school has been founded by the apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, Prof. Man Singh Rana; that imparted a relevant and deeper appreciation of architecture along with and not isolated from nature. The curriculum itself was intense in art and integrated with architecture.
Thereon, I started practising in 2004 with my former studio 42mm, which was/is a partnership. Since 2011 one has been at my atelier, Meanohara, and answer to the sobriquet rohitsatelier as well.
What made you passionate about ‘Architecture’?
The Universe.
It made it happen. It made me do it. I swear I have no part to play.
‘Meanohara’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving?
It’s a word I invented, where the first half of the word – ‘mean’, stands for ‘Meaning’ while the latter half ‘hara’ comes from the Sanskrit word; ‘Manohara’, reflecting on the quest for meaning in one’s work.
How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?
Coffee & the generous love of my family. Besides that, so does sport.
Originally in the Eastern thought of learning, students were encouraged in the trinity of philosophy, sport & art, which gave a well-rounded understanding towards other disciplines.”
What are the business mantras you have embraced as you sought to establish your success story?
My search for business mantras is still ongoing; one will share the same as soon as appropriate mantra verses are found.
Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?
My little Godson/nephew, one wishes and strives to be more heroic and admirable in his eyes.
Please share with us, how do you motivate your clients?
It is subjective, based on the nature of the clients, their exposure to architecture & design, etc.
What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?
Maintaining a certain sense of fluidity and keeping your stimuli active will be some of them.
You are always positive and motivated, what keeps you going?
To leave this planet a better place than when we found it is reason enough.
We are custodians for our children and that is motivating enough.”
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
Instead of thinking in terms of keys, locks and doors, maybe being part of an indivisible process which is positive and nurturing is a better way to think about success.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
One should follow a path with a heart is my advice.
