This weekend we invited yet another passionate young entrepreneurs Sanchit and Suyash Sharma for an interview with us to understand more about their exciting entrepreneurial journey. They are the Founders of Else Digital Pvt Ltd. Let’s learn more about their journey, way forward and advice for aspiring entrepreneurs!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with him:
Please tell us about your venture and your journey so far with ‘Else Digital’
We started Else Digital PVT LTD with a vision to educate people about various topics (especially gardening) for free. One of our best websites, BalconyGardenWeb, is all about gardening in which we share informative content on growing plants in small space.
Currently, we own 18+ websites, 3 YouTube channels, and an offline branch of our brand-India Gardening from which we sell plants locally and deliver them all over India.”
We have the vision to make India greener and more beautiful!
Can you please help us know more about the founders and the background?
My brother Suyash Sharma and I (Sanchit Sharma) are the co-founders of this company. We’re both computer science engineers and have a deep interest in Gardening and the Internet.
We’ve been running this company for 6 years and have plans to expand to our portfolio in the upcoming years.
What is the best thing about your venture?
The best thing about this business is that anyone can start it with a very small capital and resources.
We started our online business with just 720 rupees. Now we’re running several successful websites and have a Million Dollar Company with a steady income.”
All you need to start such a business is personal interest (for any niche you choose), patience, and desire to educate people with profoundly researched information.
How do you view the competition in the industry/niche that you operate in?
Competition is continuously increasing in the online world because more and more individuals and companies are jumping into it but we’re not worried about it. In fact, it inspires us to work harder to create content that is much more organized and informative.
The competition also makes it easier for the visitor to find content on a wide range of topics, which is good!
What impact did the Covid-19 pandemic have on your business? How do you plan to overcome it?
COVID-19 caused a significant drop in the revenue of our company when it started spreading in the beginning months of 2020. We even had to cut down the salaries of all our employees due to this. Also, we had to shut our offices and everyone has been working from home since then.
In terms of revenue, we’re almost coming back on track now and planning to open offices soon.
To overcome the loss, we’re working harder to drive more traffic to our websites and looking for new ideas to make more income streams.
As a business leader, what motivates you the most to keep pushing yourself to do better on the daily basis?
We always wanted to do something for the country, something that could give employment to people and bring foreign money to our nation.
With this business, we’re playing a small part by bringing some ad-revenue to India from the world. Also, we’re regularly motivating others to start such businesses.
The desire to do something for our country is our biggest motivation!
How do you plan the next growth phase of your business?
We’re continuously working on many innovative ideas for our existing brands to make them big and bigger.
Our new startup, India Gardening is getting a good response and we’re regularly adding more products to it.
We have plans to expand into many fields related to gardening business and open more branches of our offline garden centre.
What is the biggest challenge that your firm is facing at the moment? How do you plan to overcome it?
The biggest challenge is the COVID-19 because we’re unable to do many things due to it but things are normalizing now.
The other big challenge we faced in the early days was finding the right talent for our company. LinkedIn was most helpful for it and we found many good candidates through that.
