As part of this endeavour, we invited Ssuhani Sinalkar for an exclusive interview with us. Ssuhani is an Award Winning Entrepreneur, Leader, Educator, Speaker, Coach, Consultant and Change Enabler. She is the Founder and Managing Director at SOHAMIIT and NEET Classes, the Founder of AIFA – Friends Squad Womens Sports Club and the Founder of Naya Savera NGO. Let’s learn more about her incredible journey, her background, and her advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Ssuhani:
We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, talk us through your journey and what attracted you to entrepreneurship?
I was a very bright student from my early school days and I used to top in the examinations but had to face many problems while completing my higher education. Unlike other students, I enjoyed studying and topping all the charts as far as an educational benchmark is concerned.
I was passionate about educations and It became clear to me that this is going to be my purpose too.”
As soon as I completed my Management Degree, I soon got the chance to work for a local tuition firm and edtech wasn’t much famous at that time.
I was not experienced but because of my go-getter attitude, I managed to bring together some students who were very focused on making a good career. I made these students and their parents understand the importance of edtech and how it can help them in achieving success in life by making a great career.
Hard work started showing results soon and it was better than what I expected which prompted me to come up with an annual plan in order to set a benchmark for the growth of students.
Where did the idea to start these ventures come from? How did you discover your passion as an ‘Educator and Coach’?
I set up SOHAMIIT & NEET Classes as I wanted to reduce the gap between being educated and being able to make a bright future and for this purpose, she ensured that no compromise is made in terms of infrastructure and quality of the faculty. In addition, I also adopted a few methodologies such as having doubt sessions, encouraging students to ask queries, one-on-one counselling, progress analysis, etc.
Needless to say, growth is very necessary for a business but for me, enhancement in the skills and knowledge of students was the topmost priority. Students are allowed to get in touch with me even for small problems and I also meet parents and guardians on a regular basis for clearing their doubts, if any, as well as for finding out what they expect from me and SOHAMIIT & NEET Classes.
Managing an institute is certainly a very difficult task but my expertise and experience of over a decade in this field along with focus and commitment towards the work has helped me a lot in achieving excellence and I have also received many awards and recognitions for my contribution towards edtech.
How is your startup SOHAMIIT different from other edtech ventures? What is the key differentiator? Also, talk us through the Mission and the Vision of the company;
In this world of information & competition, we, at SOHAMIIT, provide a concise & target-oriented study system. Hailing from IITs, NITs & other renowned universities, our innovative & dedicated faculties ensure that every student gets a clear understanding of each subject with great exposure to regular test series & detailed study materials.
At SOHAM CLASSES, pushing the limits of our students with consistency is our main purpose. We help them unlock their potential through regular guidance during dedicated tutorial sessions. During inception, our ultimate aim is to take our institution towards the zenith of perfection. We believe that this is solely possible through imparting focused tutoring classes that ensure good results because then the results of our students would speak for the amount of hard work we invest in them.
Our vision is to take this legacy further and enrich the lives of our students by guiding them towards academic success and we have been spearheading our principles with dedication & whole-hearted cooperation from our beloved students. Our systematic approach, motivated performance and positive thinking help us in achieving our targets.
Our mission is to create an environment for the students that satisfies their needs and transforms them into holistic individuals. We provide support to the dedicated students to achieve their goals by initiating self-regulated learning, enhancing their academic skills and inculcating the spirit of leadership in them.
What are some of the awards and accolades that you have won so far?
I have won many awards and accolades that serve as a motivation for all the good work that we are doing in the ed-tech space.
I have been awarded thrice with the Best Excellence award for Business Management with International School and fourth time also she is a front runner.
This definitely speaks very highly of her capability and the contribution that she is making to help her students achieve success. Ssuhani Sinalkar also got honoured with the Women Iconza Awards 2021 for being the Iconic Leader in edtech.
Recently, I added one more feather to her cap as the highly esteemed and very famous global press release distribution network Times Applaud honoured me with the Corona Warrior Award 2021 for the outstanding contribution that we made towards society in these critical times.
The COVID-19 pandemic was undoubtedly the toughest time of our lives but I was in no mood to let the studies of my students get affected so I arranged online classes even if someone’s parents were not able to pay fees. In these critical times, we also helped the poor and needy by distributing masks, sanitisers, medicines, ration kits, etc and tried our best to make their lives easy.
We kept on paying salaries to our teachers and other staff members despite the fact that my personal earnings dipped considerably.
How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?
The happy clients, their testimonials and seeing them grow is what motivates me.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
Seeing our students do well in various exams is what makes the journey satisfying. It feels great when our students outperform others to top some of the most coveted examinations.
