As part of our relentless pursuit to identify and share with our community some of the unique and compelling startup stories from the ecosystem, this weekend we spoke to another passionate Entrepreneur and Coach Suprita Sinha to understand more about her journey, her vision and the way forward. Suprita is a Certified Coach, Analyst, Mentor and Leader. Let’s learn more about her incredible journey so far!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Suprita:

We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, talk us through your background and your journey, please;

I did my schooling from St.Joseph’s Convent High School and further pursued Graduation from the prestigious Miranda House, Delhi University. Post that, I completed my MBA in Marketing from Pune University. I was a passionate individual from the beginning and always aspired to be one of the achievers by delivering high performance in all walks of life.

I am also an Associate Certified Coach from ICF and a Certified Professional Behaviour Analyst. I am into training and mentoring as well, do programs for young adults, teachers, professionals and individuals.”

During my school days, I was a very shy person, had very few friends, not a favourite of the teachers, was scared to speak to them, the same was the case in college as well. Sometimes I feel people will hardly remember me if I meet them at a later stage in life, but all these were my assumptions. When I talk to someone today, people still remember me for who I am. I never thought that I would get into sales and marketing in the banking field, have been a banker by profession for the last 17 years

My corporate stint taught me a lot…I learnt to be tough, accept criticism, build up resilience, understand the emotions of different people, my peers, my team members, my seniors.”

What made you passionate about ‘Coaching’?

People, they are being different attracted me to coaching, the diversity.

It’s very important to understand how will a person perform, how will a person behave, what will enable them and what will derail them. Same medicine does not work for all, as all of us are different.”

Helping people understand and see their blind spots, have conversations around them without being fearful or judged and moving ahead to know their potential, to co-create a future which they care for.

How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?

Empowering and challenging the myths, stereotypes about being happy…wellness journey to have self-awareness and courage to give up and start afresh…do things on my own, what I am passionate about.

Learning drives me and learning is a continuous journey. To live a life of respect, dignity and treat others with the same ethical principles is my drive to work in this field without being judgemental.. being open to sharing vulnerability accepting things the way they are.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

My husband Anirban, my father and my mentors. My husband is my biggest strength. He has since become my safe spot and anchor.

What are some of the strategies that you believe has helped you grow as a person?

There are a few:

a) Gratitude

b) Acceptance

c) Being humble

d) Being Responsible for my actions

e) Being open to listening

f) Self Coaching

Please share with us, how do you motivate your clients?

The focus is to help individuals heal, energise and become aware of their inner strengths. I achieve this by providing a safe space, listening to your concerns and being non-judgmental, helping them discover self and have better conversations with others.

Helping people know their blind spots and understand how to change conversations so that they can create a future which they want to achieve.

My work is to empower clients to take on responsibilities for their own self-development and show confidence in their abilities to achieve their goals.

You are always positive and motivated, what keeps you going?

(a) My patience and perseverance. Being disciplined and setting my priorities right, looking at challenges as opportunities.

(b) Schedule a daily appointment for self-care, even if it’s just me time. For example, my walks and exercise, being away from gadgets. I have a habit tracker which helps me pen down my learnings, achievements and what I am grateful for.

(c) I also read works by people I admire with uplifting material that reminds me of the power we all have within us.

(d) Last but not least when I see my clients having an aha moment and I get the privilege of witnessing their breakthrough, it’s very satisfying.

In your opinion what are the keys to success?

I will say it straight that there are many factors but if you really have to have the key elements then to me these are the ones:

1) Accepting the situation

2) Responsibility for my actions instead of blame

3) Turning challenging situations into opportunities

4) Knowing my resources

5) Positive Attitude

6) Being consistent

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

Career decisions require a long view of what comes after and a good understanding of personal skills and ambitions. Make informed choices and build a professional life that empowers your lifestyle. Know what drives you, know your motivators, do not get influenced.

There is so much to be shared, but this conversation limits how much I can communicate on this platform. Students and young professionals regularly reach out to me on LinkedIn with their specific queries.
