Let’s learn more about her incredible journey, her background, and her advice for our growing community!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Sushmita:

We are aware of your contributions to the ecosystem; talk us through your background and your journey, please;

After doing major in Chemistry, I studied my first nutrition course at K11 fitness academy and did several other certification courses after that, which contributed to both, professional & personal growth.

Thereafter, worked at a gym in Bandra where I started consulting people in my assigned cabin. Soon after the gym, I started my page on Facebook called “ketogenic diet India” through which I got both, domestic and international exposure.

Thereon, I started my page on Instagram called Getfitwithsush through which my content got a lot of recognition. Currently, I have clients from all over the world through word of mouth and referrals.

How did I discover my passion?

Whenever I used to work for different companies in different fields alongside taking up my nutrition clients during weekends, I just couldn’t stop talking about nutrition at my workplace or even while having casual conversations with friends.

I realised my passion when all I could talk about was nutrition. The growing urge to keep taking up new clients during the week and to make it a full-time consultancy affirmed my passion.

How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?

I used to face a lot of challenges during the initial stages but I always learnt from my mistakes and my openness to feedback, as a result of which I improvised on my diets & services.

What drives me is my client’s positive feedback and willingness to transform themselves. I also look at everyone’s transformation journey as a challenge and that honestly puts a lot of positive pressure on me to make them reach their goal.

The moment they say “ I love your recipes, I love the way you guide us, understand us, motivate us and scold us to achieve our goal” is my true driving force to stick to my journey of imparting the right knowledge and transforming their lives.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

The biggest source of motivation has honestly been my mom and my traumatic childhood. I have this positive Inbulit trauma which always keeps me on my toes.

To begin with, my mom has always taught me to be independent and career-oriented and she is the only one who always believed In me because she could see the sparkle in my eyes every time I spoke about fitness.

Furthermore, I was brutally bullied in school because of my weight and looks. So every time I lag or gain weight I remember the people I have to prove to and that keeps me on my toes. Also, The moment my clothes become tight, I immediately put back all the focus on myself and lose that freshly gained fat before it becomes stubborn, this is the inbuilt positive trauma I was talking about.

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

> Being Patient

> Being mindful

> Being a good listener

> Being Emphatic

> Acquiring knowledge

> Ability to take responsibility for my actions and improvise

In your opinion what are the keys to success?

(1) Persuasive till you achieve your goals

(2) Time management

(3) Empathy plays a very important role whenever required

(4) Quick response to queries

(5) Consistency

(6) A healthy work-life balance

(7) A healthy mind

(8) Frequent updation of knowledge

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

To begin with, I would suggest people take their health seriously before it’s too late cause most people start taking their health seriously after falling sick.

Start now! The sooner you start, the healthier your body and mind would be and Of course, fewer visits to the hospital.

Additionally, don’t make your diet plan by yourself because there is a lot of misleading information flooded all over the Internet.

Furthermore, every person’s schedule, height, weight, medical condition, family history, age, body fat percentage and workout intensity is different so the diet varies from person to person due to which no two people can ever follow the same plan.

Moreover, you need to make health your priority regardless of your schedule. travel, weddings, job, anniversaries and birthdays are a part and parcel of your life so you would need to manage your diet plan regardless of your schedule.

Lastly, you have to be patient and consistent. Patient because weight loss/ muscle gaining isn’t a linear journey, it’s a journey full of roses and thorns.

There are going to be days when you won’t see any results, that’s the time you have to convince yourself to be patient and to keep going instead of giving up.

Consistent cause our lifestyle is very unpredictable and most of us have an active social life so being consistent becomes a challenge. Nevertheless, thanks to our flexible nutritionists who give you options to eat outside, which keeps you in control.

Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?

To begin with, client satisfaction! The most satisfying part of my journey is when clients manage to attain their health goals. It makes me happy when I see them Happy. The smile they have on their faces is my biggest satisfaction.

I remember a client telling me a few years back that “Sushmita you have reversed my PCOS because of which I have been able to conceive, I don’t know how to thank you”. This compliment overwhelmed me and brought tears to my eyes.

I have helped people with PCOS, diabetes, Thyroid, blood cancer and so many other metabolic disorders! And whenever they get reversed or my clients see good results it just brings a smile to my face and that defines my achievements & satisfaction.

Adding on, their praises for my services which include client recall, prompt replies, unlimited doubt-solving sessions and delicious recipes.

Lastly, the features on different platforms like vogue, storiyaan, business tycoon today and the success today keeps me excited and gripped to my journey as well.
