This week, we spoke to yet another young and passionate entrepreneur Ujjwal Bassi to know more about his exciting journey. He is the founder and CEO of KhetVet. Being a tech enthusiast, he has been tinkering with ideas and entrepreneurial projects from a very early age. He is a Change Enabler and a Social Entrepreneur. Let’s read more about his inspiring journey and his advice for those willing to plunge into entrepreneurship!
Excerpts from our exclusive Interview with Ujjwal:
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey, please;
I am Ujjwal Bassi, my year of birth is 1999. I dropped out of 9th standard in 2015. I am working in a tech world from last 10 years. I started by making and renting game servers when I was young (9 or 10 probably). I have a lot of ideas that I have built from the ground up, Donate Clothes and KhetVet are two ideas that shot up. Donate Clothes was launched in 2016 that provided people in Chandigarh to donate clothes by registering on the app. Then further we would go to their house and pick the clothes and donate them.
KhetVet, a service for small scale farmers that helps them to sell their products online for a better price, making them self sustainable and not go into debts.
Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job?
I do not like working under anybody. I always wanted to be the top guy who handles things and manages things rather than working on a specific part of something.
What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e. what’s your source of motivation?
I always have a niche of making something extraordinary, different from everybody, the work, the hustle, the hard work, I never get any thought of ‘sleeping’ or ‘not working’. I’m just brought up that way by my parents. They always taught me ‘not to waste time’ and it’s just that from the starting.
What challenges/obstacles did you face in your journey so far?
There are just 2 challenges that I face every day.
1) Convincing people that someone who is 20 years old can have a company and can make their lives better with his / her skills.
2) Money, everything requires money, starting a company, working for some target.
What comes first for you – money or emotions?
I am a money-minded person. For me, money comes first, I’ve tested the emotional ways as well, it barely works for me. But money has always worked for me.
How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?
Pressure and stress is just something I like. Handling stress or pressure has never been a problem for me. I work best under pressure and stress. Hence, I don’t feel the need to handle them.
What is one strategy that you believe has helped you grow as a person?
In my journey so far, that one strategy that has helped me grow at super speed is, Always think above your head(Nearest reference is ‘Think out of the box’). This means that whatever you’re doing / thinking or going to do/think, just rethink it with a different perspective, always give your thinkings and actions a second thought with a different perspective.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
Hard work, learning and money.
What advice would you give to someone starting out?
Work as hard as you can, don’t let people around you drive you at any cost. Always think out of the box, no matter how wrong/correct anybody says it. Because if you want to do something different, different thinking is required. Simple thinking will get you simple things and different thinking will get you different things and, always think about getting money out of something because just ‘doing something’ is not going to help you grow. Money is essential in growing.
