Let’s learn more about her background, journey and advice for our community!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Vaani:

Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?

My journey has been anything but linear. From starting my career in the corporate world to co-founding D’chica, an innerwear and period care brand for young women, I’ve always sought meaningful work that resonates with my values.

D’chica was born out of the realization that young women deserve better options. Comfortable, stylish, and functional innerwear that empowers them to feel confident in their skin.

Every step of the journey, from sourcing the right materials to creating a brand voice that speaks directly to our audience, has been a learning experience and a labour of love.

How did you discover your passion?

It wasn’t a sudden epiphany but rather a series of moments.

My passion stems from observing gaps in the market for products that genuinely cater to the needs of women, especially in the innerwear space.

I wanted to create something that didn’t just sell but added value to young women’s lives. That desire to make a difference ignited my passion for entrepreneurship, and it’s been my driving force ever since.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

My motivation comes from my customers and my team.

Hearing stories of how our products have positively impacted someone’s life, made them feel comfortable, or solved a problem they’ve faced is what keeps me going.

Beyond that, my family and co-founder have been incredible pillars of support, constantly inspiring me to push boundaries.

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

1) Resilience: Building a business is full of highs and lows. Embracing challenges as learning opportunities has been transformative.

2) Continuous Learning: I invest time in understanding trends, customer feedback, and new ways to innovate.

3) Listening: Whether it’s my team, customers, or even critics, being open to feedback has helped me grow personally and professionally.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

The keys to success lie in clarity, consistency, and customer-centricity. Clarity about your vision ensures every decision aligns with your goals. Consistency in execution builds trust and a loyal customer base.

Finally, always putting the customer first, whether it’s in design, pricing, or communication is non-negotiable.

What advice would you give to our readers?

Don’t wait for the perfect time to start. There’s no such thing.

Start where you are, with what you have, and focus on progress rather than perfection. Surround yourself with people who challenge and uplift you, and never underestimate the power of a clear vision paired with hard work.

Most importantly, always stay true to your values. They are your compass when things get tough.
