Excerpts from our exclusive interview with her:
Tell us a little bit about yourself;
Hi, I’m Vinita Ramtri. I am a life coach and also keynote speaker on a wide range of topics such as women in leadership and the power of process.
I have been working in the corporate sector for over 20 years. I started with the Oberoi Hotels in India and currently work at a British Bank in London.
I have thrived in the corporate world but at the same time, I also continue to fulfil my dreams such as writing (I have published a book and am writing my second book), running (I have run the London marathons and some half-marathons) etc. I also have two children.
When we are deciding how we want to shape our lives, people often think that they don’t have a choice and sometimes we give up before we even try. I am here to challenge that belief and help people to live happier and fulfilled lives doing what they love.
So as a coach and speaker and through all my writing, I try to reach out and play my part in shaping a happier future for us all. I cover an extensive range of topics such as self-awareness, authenticity and purpose, meaningful goals, winning mindsets, personal branding, networking and much more.
Why is it important to have a coach/mentor?
This is really simple.
We all carry a dream. For example, some of us want to become more rich, some want to be more relaxed. Some of us just want to read while others just want to write. Our dreams are very personal and very precious to us.
We all also carry a story. For example, something in the past might have caused us to believe that we cannot achieve our dream or even that dreams come true without working for it.
Coaches and mentors play different roles but their main purpose is to help you to connect your reality with your dream – no matter what your story.
We change the story from, ‘I can not do this because…’ to, ‘I really want to do this because… and this is HOW I will do it!’
Sometimes, even when we don’t believe in ourselves, our coaches don’t give up on us.
When I was younger, coaching was not popular and I did not have a coach. I can say that if I had a coach or a mentor sooner in life; that would have been an immense help to me.
Over the course of my incredible career, I have mentored and coached many professionals with tremendous talent. This includes professionals from CEOs to graduates who are just starting out. I have also spoken on several global platforms covering topics from Women in Leadership to Process Mastery.
My clients are incredibly committed people of all age groups who want to be more and are ready to do what it takes. My job is done only when you believe that YOU GOT THIS!
‘ONE LIFE IS ENOUGH TO MAKE IT, AND YET TOO SHORT TO FAKE IT’ – Vinita Ramtri
If you become a coachee with me – there is one thing I can guarantee you. You will never think the same again. I will not just change what you think but I will transform the way you think – not just shaking things up for here and now but giving you the ability to do so for yourself in the future. As a coach, my job is to wake you and to make you. Because I believe firmly that one life is enough to make it, yet too short to fake it.
How do you find the industry/niche that you’re in?
I have been in many industries and even today, I am not only wedded to one industry. I started with a summer job in the automobile industry and I used to work in a showroom in Jaipur selling Bajaj vehicles. From there I went to the hotel industry where I worked with Oberoi. I have worked at many locations like Oberoi Grand Kolkata to Trident Kochi. Then I became a leadership and development person with an Indian Outsourcing company and worked with several industries like travel and gaming. Eventually, I joined media and worked with Sky TV and just now, I am in finance. But even now, I continue to be an author and speaker.
What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e. what’s your source of motivation?
I wake up by 4.30 am on most days. Every morning, I feel that some supernatural force has sent me a lot of positive energy and wants me to go and spread this. This force also compels me to learn. So that’s what I do. I wake up to study, to write and so on.
What challenges/obstacles did you face in your journey so far?
I face countless challenges depending on where I am. But I am nothing without a challenge. I am very passionate about things that matter and I walk right into challenges where I see a purpose.
What comes first for you – money or emotions?
Having no money to pay your bills can be emotional. Yet, all the money in the world can’t help you buy emotion. So both. Life is about balance.
