As we all know entrepreneurship is not easy and it is nearly impossible to even think of pursuing it when you have some serious medical conditions except for Aarti Soni – who is working really hard to make her dream come true. She has recently launched her first product. At BrilliantRead, it is our endeavour to bring such powerful stories to you. Let’s read her motivational story!
Tell us more about your journey;
I was diagnosed with ‘Spine Tumour’ at an age of 5 and because of this disability I can not walk. But I never gave up and still continue to face the battle head on. Although it has been a little tough; It’s not an ordinary life but I’m hell bent on making it worthwhile. Thanks to my parents for their support and I could start something on my own. I am from Bikaner, Rajasthan but currently living in Pune, Maharashtra. I have believed that in life you must keep learning to move ahead in life. I am always keen to learn new skills. Because of my passion to do something meaningful I started my entrepreneurial journey.
What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e. what’s your source of motivation?
Of course, my burning desire to walk again (I won’t give up), my dreams and lots of pressure from society to become successful:)
When did you start working on the idea? What challenges/obstacles did you face in your journey so far?
Like everyone else I faced so many challenges but they were different, biggest one being physically challenged, so people do not allow me to go anywhere if I go somewhere; people always show sympathy and ask so many questions. As a physically challenged person, society always want you to go for a government job because it will be an easy job and it will also suit me. But my only question to so-called Indian society is why you always think a physically challenged person can become only a government employee and why not an Entrepreneur, DR. or something he\she wants to become
This is the biggest challenge for me. My journey has just started and so many challenges are still waiting for me but you know what! I am ready for that.
My Entrepreneurial journey started in December 2017 when I decided I just want to build my own company and after that I started hustling like every entrepreneur and my co-founder (Richa Agnihotri) supports me lot in this journey. Our Brand is “FEELINGS” and just 2 months before, we launched our first product called “Namkeen Date” we are looking for funding now so that we can start on a large scale.
Tell our audience more about your failures? How should one bounce back?
I have faced so many health problems; many times I got injured because of lack of sensitivity in my legs so I have always faced health issues one after the other and it goes on.
I always wanted to be an independent woman, I always tried to convince my parents to allow me to go to out of the city, but they denied because like everyone they also used to think that I am not capable of going out because I am a physically challenged person, unfortunately. I always failed to convince but finally in 2018 I convinced my parents. My younger brother helped me a lot.
If you are mad for your dreams, passionate for it then no one can stop you. In your bad times – when someone said some harsh words which hurt you then just think about those words because it will give you extreme energy to bounce back. Simply put, your critics are very important; you have to prove them wrong. I am always thankful to my critics.
How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?
Not every time but sometimes pressure and stress are very important for your goals because only pressure and stress push you to the extreme and you can go out of your comfort zone, so I can handle it with very gracefully and I can come out of every comfort zone only because of it.
What are you passionate about?
Work is my passion I enjoy while working and I want to become a successful entrepreneur, my purpose is to walk again and do something great for my family and the friends which helped me a lot in my bad times when I will become successful I want to do something for differently-abled people.
