VirtuLab | This Week’s Startup Story

VirtuLab

As part of our relentless pursuit to identify and share with our community some of the unique and compelling startup stories from the ecosystem, this week we spoke to Team VirtuLab to understand more about their journey, their vision and the way forward. Let’s read their unique story!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with the team:

We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, tell us a little bit about your startup and the problems you guys are solving, please;

VirtuLab is helping B2B & B2C Brands engage customers in the virtual world. Our flagship service is the creation of Virtual Showrooms. These showrooms are a new-age marketing & product display platform. Brands can display 3d products in a fully custom-designed environment which is engaging & informative at the same time.

The showrooms are very versatile & can be used in several ways by B2B & B2C brands.

‘VirtuLab’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving?

VirtuLab is clearly a combination of two words – Virtual & Lab. It thus captures the essence of innovation & experimentation of ideas in the virtual world.

We are helping brands create outstanding presentations & experiences using the technologies available in the virtual world.”

During this COVID-19 crisis, what are the measures you have undertaken to continue your business without disruption?

VirtuLab is an offshoot of the Design Desk. And Design Desk was purely working in the physical world since 2005. Hence the changeover to remote working was a challenge for us. However, we have been able to adapt quite well.

Most important was having a team culture & mindset which is willing to adapt. After that, the availability of new-age tools like zoom & slack made it so much easier to coordinate seamlessly.

Having said that, we do miss working together in the physical setting. We are waiting for a full-fledged & safe reopening of working from an office.

How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives the team?

Trust, tenacity & transparency have been very important in these recent challenges. Having trust in oneself & on colleagues in a physically distanced world is very important.

Tenacity or persistence can never be emphasized enough. An unending determination to pursue is often less talked about. Of course, there will be setbacks & failures.”

We have to take the learnings & move ahead. Finally, transparency brings us back to the circle of trust. I think being truthful to self & everyone – be it colleagues or clients – is the most uncomplicated & sustainable approach.

What is one strategy that you guys believe has helped you grow as a team/startup?

I think the ability to look objectively at the changing scenarios around us & embracing the change has been vital. It’s very important not to be limited by the blinders of one’s own perspective.

So recognizing & acknowledging change is the starting point. And then the more important bit is to adapt intelligently to the new needs of the world around us. This short philosophy helps us stay fresh & growing with time.

VirtuLab

In your opinion – what is more necessary: An idea or a good team for a successful startup?

Among these two choices, I think a good team is more necessary.

A good team can identify & weed out the weaknesses of a poor idea.”

And if the idea is already good, then without a good team to build on it – it just remains an idea.
